The Late, Great Democratic Party

10/19/2018

When I was growing up in a working class neighborhood in Chicago, most people were democrats. Mayor Richard Daley ruled supreme. Fast forward to the present and Chicago has become the violent crime capital of the world and instead of Daly it has Rahm Emanuel as its mayor.  Boy how things have changed.

However, that’s not all that’s changed. Back then, the Democratic Party was the life-blood of the city.  Jobs and politics centered around the Democratic Party which identified itself with the average man-on-the-street. Today, it has morphed into something quite unrecognizable.

Today, the party has been taken over by the likes of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Andrew Gillum and Beto O’Rourke and left-wing protests are often organized by Antifa and party candidates increasingly get their funding from people like George Soros. Then there’s the use of agent provocateurs such as Linda Sarsour, who masquerades as a supporter of women’s rights when she is really a Muslim who believes in Sharia Law. I doubt that most women understand what that truly means. The really scary thing is, though, that today there is no longer room in the Democratic party for moderates and even liberals are not considered far-left enough. For example, Ocasio-Cortez will not support Bernie Sanders presidential bid for 2020.

The political landscape is changing by the day.  According to students at Cal Berkeley, violence is justified as a means of self-defense when someone offers up beliefs that run counter to their way of thinking. Even people of minority groups like Milo Yiannopoulos or Kanye West are publicly humiliated or not allowed to speak.  What we’re experiencing is mob-rule. Of course, some people don’t want to hear that expression and, accordingly, it’s been banned by certain parts of the mainstream media.  It’s politically incorrect, I guess, even though recent polls show that a vast majority of minority groups are opposed to political correctness.

So, if the Democratic party increasingly does not represent the average American, since minorities are beginning to move to the right politically (blacks and hispanics oppose immigration) and since the party conspired to deprive Bernie Sanders of the party’s 2016 presidential nomination, exactly who does it represent (other than perhaps illegal immigrants, that is)?

One thing is for sure, though, it surely doesn’t represent me.

“The far Left has totally hijacked the Democratic Party. The socialist message will resonate with some naïve, far-Left voters, many of whom are economically ignorant. A big part of this problem is that colleges today are more interested in teaching kids how to become professional protesters than they are teaching them anything about economics or finance.”  –  Kristin Tate, political commentator

Hello. Antifa is an anarchist organization. They are not part of the democratic party, nor do they want to be part of it. They want to destroy government and the capitalist system they find unfair and think is controlling the government.

The Democratic party moved right as the Republican party moved to the extreme right. The Democrats in the past held the same beliefs of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Andrew Gillum and Beta O’Rourke. The Democrats of the past were for health care access, social safety nets, food assistance, housing assistance, and the other new deal stuff. The democrats of old were for the people and the rights of individual people. So again as the Republican party became a far right fundamentalist Christian party, the Democrats moved right to become corporate Democrats. We really need the party to go back to being a progressive liberal party.

Ah the Soros boogie man. Sorry to bust to bust up the republican talking points, but George Soros is not single handedly funding the entire Democratic party, paying for all protests, and then paying all the protestors. Soros is not funding a news networks, radio programs, and school sex education programs. Does George Soros give to the democratic party, sure, just like Sheldon Adelson, the Mercer family, and the Devos family gives to republicans. The big difference is the amounts given. The republicans get far more money from wealthy republican donors than democrats get from wealthy democratic donors. Also wealthy Rupert Murdoch basicly set up a state TV station called Fox News. The Sinclar group bought a huge number of radio stations and forced all the show host to parrot a right wing talking point. They also mandated the news would be covered favorable to the Republicans and the White House. Again basically a state radio network.

Bernie Sanders is not a member of the Democratic party, never was, and refused to join to run as one. Ocasio-Cortez is a Democratic party member and she should be supporting a Democratic party candidate come the next presidential election.

We are not seeing mob rule, neither on the right nor the left, even though the republican in congress and the White House have totally destroy and violated accepted normal behaviors. . There is a regressive left that is mostly young and a far to the right Alt right groups. Neither party promotes these extreme groups. But by far the right has a much larger violent portion of the party and that can be seen at everyone of the Presidential rallies. The Tea Party became famous for their violent over the top treatment of President Obama.

To your point of does the Democratic party represent the average Americans please remember that the Democratic party got 3 million more votes than the Republican party in the 2016 election. The party represents even more people today according to registered party membership than ever before. You even have Republicans calling for people to vote for Democratic party candidates, you have Republicans leaving the Republican party, you have Independents voting overwhelming for Democratic candidates according to polling. While the Democratic party is growing , the Republican party is shrinking. Their base of older white people is shrinking and dying off. Yes there are younger republicans but they are losing their base faster than new people are joining.

As for Sanders run, again he was not a member of the party, refused to join the party, but wanted all the party support . There was a Democratic party member running and was owed party support. However the primary was not stolen as there were far more votes for Clinton than Sanders. To say the primary was stolen is to devalue all the people who voted for Clinton.

To your point of claiming the Democratic party supports immigrants. the party does support human rights and dignity. However the constant talking point broadcast by Fox News and the President that illegal immigrants are voting is stupid and beyond belief. Think if it, a group of people who can not afford to come to the attention of the authorities are going to march into a voting place with police officers there and demand to vote even though they are not on the voting rolls. As for immigrants that are here legally, unless they are naturalized they also can not vote and are not on the voting rolls. However the republican party is famous for trying to restrict the right to vote from legal voters. Just look at North Dakota and Georgia. While the Democratic party doesn’t represent you, it does represent myself and millions of Americans. Be well. Hugs

There are generally two kinds of people, those that think that they actually understand politics and those that really do but never tell the truth because, in politics, it’s impossible to ever tell the truth.

No silliness dude. Your rabid ideals are well known to me. Want to talk political funding, let’s get into the koch brothers, let’s talk about the out right bribes of Sheldon Adelson and the hord of others. We can talk about the retreats where the members of the republican congress are paraded before a bunch of wealthy donors to make their pitch. The right loves to claim Soros is funding everything from the every individual of the migrant caravan to everything the right thinks is evil. Dude think of it, he is not that wealthy to do all that. He would be bankrupt by now. Get a life.

You are talking to someone who knew the power of the koch brothers. My husband worked for one of them. The sheriff’s department kept an office in their home, where an officer was stationed.

You have no idea of the deep corruption of both sides but in truth the deepest corruption is on the right.

Last thing if Soros did give money to O’Rourke, what of it? It is legal in our system to support candidates you agree with. What really is your point? To spread a boogie man? Grow up and get a life. Sad for you hugs

You’re right about the Koch Brothers, but you don’t even know the half of it. My point was that you were previously making a fallacious argument about Soros, lest you already forgot.

No I did not, please show with evidence ( real not imagined thank you ) what your point is and how it is backed up. Hugs

Hi, John. I hope you are well. I couldn’t agree more. It was the same for me growing up in southern West Virginia. It was UMWA country and the Democrat Party was “the working man’s” party. My father, who has passed on, wouldn’t recognize the party today. I hope that all the “blue dog” Democrats realize what is going on and either take back their party or get out quickly. Take care, my friend.

What’s going on is that the world is not a static place; everything is changing. Alliances are changing, allegiances are changing, demographics are changing and ideologies are changing. There are also those who are fomenting change and using bully tactics to get what they want. That’s why a number of historians are saying that the country is headed towards civil war.
